Some advice, please...thanks :)

I'm still having a great birthday, but something's bothering me. I checked out my progress on Warcrygirl's page and got a little stab in my chest. No one's voted for me. Not ONE person. I don't get it. That kinda hurts. I keep thinking, oh well, it's just a stupid blog, who cares. I'm being lame again. Eesh...

I need some input from some people. How can I get more regular readers? Is there anything I can spruce up? I'm trying to be myself, but that's boring people I guess. I'd appreciate some input from anyone. And please, ask others to read if you'd be so kind. I need some free advertising!

Yea.

M'kay, thanks...I'm off to enjoy the rest of my day!

Hi J,

I'm not a regular reader. I found you through a comment on Zoot's site. I took a peek. I think the key to regular readers (keeping in mind I have none and I don't seem to regularly read anything.) is to Advertise, Advertise, Advertise. Diaryland had Banners. Does Blogger? Maybe you could create an account on Diaryland that points to Your blogger account. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. It will happen.

I'm not in favour of chasing readers, because then I would have to be witty & erudite & stuff. But yes, advertising works, as does commenting on lots of other people's blogs.

And I hate to be a critic, but a bigger font size is easier on us blind-ass old folks ;)

I agree with Bunny... I try not to stress out about not having as many readers as WarCryGirl or anyone else because I'd drive my self-esteem into the toilet! But I think Diaryland is more of a community and you are able to have a "buddy list" to check the diaries you like to read often, and when someone has you as a buddy then they are able to check your blog because it will show up in red. I have a blogger account but I never update it, I think it's because I forgot my password. But I like it where I have all the diaries I like to read in a list and I can check on them often.

You can do what Bunny suggests and get a Diaryland account that directs readers to Blogger. Warcrygirl had Diaryland, but now she's with Blogger, BUT! She still has her Diaryland account and updates that when she updates Blogger so that let's me know to go check her new entry out.

With diaries and blogs, I believe it's not about how decorative your page looks, because diaries should be about the content, not if it looks pretty. It should sell like a book. Do you buy books based on their covers? Probably not! So I'd say keep your page simple and easy to navigate. Maybe put a background picture in of your drawings or better yet, make a column that runs on the left side of your illustrations, because you are a rockin' illustrator and I love your style and that should be a part of your page!

I think your font size is fine, but then again I'm not "an oldie but goodie"!! I wouldn't go too much bigger because then your blog entries will take up too much space and look childish. And I like the italicized font for your actual entry because I feel like your speaking to me.

So that's all my criticism!! I used to roam about and check out other diaries I haven't heard of, but I've become lazy lately.... Don't lose hope! You are a bright young lady who just had a kick ass 29th birthday!!

much love xxxxoooo
